WaterCostDescription Sustainable water management is a key challenge for Europe and the North Sea Region - and there is an increasing demand by citizens for cleaner groundwater, which was one of the drivers for the Water Frame Directive (WFD). WaterCost aims to assist in providing Water Frame Directive "competent authorities" with costeffective and sustainable measures for the management of groundwater quality, in context of river basin management plans. Guidance will be provided on how to obtain an integrated and environmentally sustainable approach to groundwater protection and management.
The project's objective is to identify, establish and test a usable CEA methodology, based on existing knowledge and expertise from different European regions - resulting in a usable approach to groundwater protection and management. The project runs from 2006 till the end of 2007.
Partners City Of Aalborg, københavns E, OOWV, Landwirtschaftskammer Niedersachsen, provincie Drenthe, Environment Agency and Kristianstads Municipality.
Finances The project has a budget of 393,960 EUR and is co-financed by the EU Interreg IIIB North Sea Region Programme with 196,980 EUR.
