EREN

European Regional Education Network

Description

The European Regional Education Network, EREN, is the result of a co-operation among the three partners: North of Denmark EU-office, Scottish Enterprise and Wales’ European Centre. The primary objectives with EREN were to establish inter-regional connections for co-operation on European project proposals and to establish consortia between potential partners with common interests. To exchange experiences (best practice) and thereby disseminate good projects to other regions. To take into consideration the future development within education and human resource development in practice and finally, to further interregional co-operation across sectors for the development of human resources in order for them to match the social and economical development of the region. 

The focus is on developing and co-ordinating the co-operation among businesses and various schools and other relevant partners to further education, training, management and employee development, establishment of "On the Job Training" placements, stationing and exchanges in the network regions and to carry through education projects within the network. The third conference was organised and held in Aalborg and had the form of a miniature partenariat in which the participants from the eight participating countries in advance had expressed their concrete fields of interest, whether in terms of educational tools, project subjects or concrete project ideas. The conference was a great success and more than 20 projects were initiated. The European Regional Education Network project was running in the period 1997-2000.

The network of EREN has been extended under another Leonardo application ANIMATE.

Partners

The network consisted of partners from 8 member states: Oulu, Glasgow, Reykjavik, Wales, Arcidonna, Patras, Boehmen and Aalborg.

Finances

The network was co-financed by the EU's Leonardo programme with 146,500 Euro. Budget: 868,000 Euro.
